Ingredients
– 1 tri-tip roast (2½–3 lbs)
– Yellow mustard (enough to lightly coat)
– Soy sauce
– Salt
– Smoked paprika
– Cumin

Optional:
You can substitute the spices with simple salt and pepper if preferred.

Instructions:
1. Prep the Meat
Lightly coat the tri-tip with mustard, which acts as a binder to help the seasonings stick.

2. Tenderize
Drizzle a small amount of soy sauce over the meat. This helps tenderize the tri-tip and keeps it moist while cooking.

3. Season
Season generously with salt, smoked paprika, and cumin. There’s no exact ratio, season by feel. (Salt and pepper work just fine if you want to keep it simple.)

4. Rest Before Grilling
Let the seasoned tri-tip sit for about 30 minutes so it comes closer to room temperature.

5. Preheat the Grill
Preheat your grill to 450–500°F.

6. Grill
Place the tri-tip on the grill and cook for 8–10 minutes per side, depending on thickness and preference, flipping once.

7. Rest & Serve
Remove from the grill and let the meat rest for 5–10 minutes. Slice against the grain and enjoy!
